The Shame of a Disused Dining Room!

With a baby on the way very shortly, the race is on to complete as much of our house renovation as possible before nappy changing and frequent feeds stop play. The one room that seems to have eluded us altogether is the dining room, which has been deemed as a ‘luxury’ room to decorate only if the quickly dwindling budget holds out.

Dining Room Colour Schemes

Then I came across a competition in which you can win a £300 spend just by telling them about your home improvement idea, which got me daydreaming about charismatic colour schemes to set the backdrop for dramatic dinner parties.

Right now our future dining room is a plain white box, which stores a lowly white desk that was evicted from my home office in order to make way for baby, and I’m just itching to dash on some more interesting hues.

On browsing the competition holders inspiration pages on their website, I was drawn to their Penny Lane selection that is described as Vintage English styling; eclectic, contrasting, and bold. Ooh, sounds right up my alley!

I think painting our chimneybreast in the purple ‘Velvet’ shade could work beautifully against ‘Slate’ alcoves, the deep shades would really bring out the ornate white coving around our high ceilings–which is where a new pair of very high ladders would also come in extremely handy…cast iron radiator

Cast Iron Radiator

I’d also love to invest in one of those beautiful cast iron radiators I just can’t help but swoon over, in a statement gunmetal grey design; I think this would look amazing with my potential grey and purple palette.

But, unless luck decides to shine on me then this design will just have to remain a dream for now, as I’ll be splashing the cash on baby bounty!
